OpenADR Alliance to Host Two-Day Event in Philadelphia

Event to help the industry gain a better understanding of automated demand response: how it supports DER integration and can leverage the IoT

MORGAN HILL, Calif., April 19, 2016: The OpenADR Alliance, a nonprofit corporation created to foster the development, adoption, and compliance of the Open Automated Demand Response (OpenADR) smart grid standard, today announced it is hosting workshop and Open House, May 24-25 at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown. The two-day event will bring together utilities, independent system operators (ISO), regulators and control suppliers who share a common interest in standardized automated demand response technology.
The first day will include a half-day workshop, lead by QualityLogic, which will help attendees learn how to leverage the Open Automated Demand Response (OpenADR) 2.0 smart grid standard to support popular energy programs, such as Critical Peak Pricing, Capacity Bidding, Thermostat and Direct Load Control, Fast DR Dispatch/Ancillary Services, Electric Vehicle (EV) DR and Distributed Energy Resources (DER) DR. The workshop includes new section which address OpenADR and DER, Transactive Energy and the emerging Internet of Things technologies.   Participants will leave the workshop with a solid understanding of how the OpenADR standard operates, backed with a detailed understanding of DR Program design and industry best practices contained in the OpenADR Alliance DR Program Guide For more information on the workshop and to register please visit.

“Most of the DR programs in place today are unique to each utility or system operator,” said Barry Haaser, managing director, OpenADR Alliance. “This event is designed to help those responsible for DR program development or management to gain a better understanding of how the OpenADR standard is used to strengthen the electrical grid and to support the development of new demand-side management programs.”

The Open House on May 25 is open to members and non-members of the OpenADR Alliance that are interested in hearing from industry experts about the new developments involving the alliance, the standard, program development, developer resources and use of the standards in the following areas:
•    Leveraging Third Party Resources for OpenADR Development
•    Is There A Transactive OpenADR In Your Future
•    Getting The Most Out of Bring Your Own Thermostat or Device Programs
•    Using OpenADR for DER Integration
•    Managing OpenADR Security
•    OpenADR and IOT

The event will conclude with an evening reception sponsored by member IPKeys, allowing attendees to network with OpenADR Alliance members and industry experts. For additional information and to register please visit.
