OpenADR Alliance Announces First Open Automated Demand Response 2.0b Certified Products

The OpenADR Alliance today announced the first OpenADR 2.0b-certified devices from a number of member companies, including: AutoGrid, EnerNOC, Fujitsu, Honeywell and IPKeys Technologies. The OpenADR 2.0b Profile Specification released in July of this year, is a full-feature specification for complex energy management solutions supporting automated demand response (ADR) and distributed energy resource (DER) management for both wholesale and retail programs. ADR programs enable customers to reduce their energy usage during times of peak demand, high wholesale market prices or grid stress.

Although there has been a lot of technology investment in the country, it is unclear where, how and when demand response will play out in Japan. When Comverge looked at the Japanese market, an R&D facility seemed like the most appropriate way to answer some of those questions, and the firm may be well positioned to leverage an early-mover advantage.

Certification ensures that Daintree's ControlScope solution can receive OpenADR2.0a signals from any certified OpenADR 2.0a server and act on those signals using ZigBee wireless mesh control to curtail multi-application energy consumption throughout a single or multi-site environment.
