Siemens Becomes Sponsor Member of OpenADR Alliance and Joins Board of DirectorsGlobal powerhouse views OpenADR as key piece for demand response strategy MORGAN HILL, Calif., Dec. 10, 2013: The OpenADR Alliance today announced that Siemens, a global leader in electrical engineering and electronics, has become a Sponsor Member of the OpenADR Alliance. As a Sponsor Member, Siemens joins the Board of Directors comprised of Southern California Edison, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), AutoGrid, EnerNOC and Honeywell. Each company provides leadership and direction in setting strategic objectives and operating policies for the alliance. “Over the past several months, the OpenADR Alliance has experienced tremendous momentum worldwide. The addition of Siemens to the Board will provide a valuable perspective as industry support and adoption of the OpenADR standard expands globally,” said Carl Besaw, chairman of OpenADR Alliance. According to Pierre Mullin, Head of Demand Response Product R&D within the Siemens Smart Grid Division and member of the board of directors for the OpenADR Alliance, "Siemens is committed to industry standards, and we feel OpenADR is critical in maximizing our strategic demand response offerings. Siemens’ commitment follows the release of the OpenADR 2.0b Profile Specification and a rising interest in OpenADR in Asia, which this summer saw highly successful interoperability test events and workshop in Japan, followed by the execution of a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Smart Grid Association (KSGA).
