OPENADR ALLIANCE UNVEILS NEW WEB TOOLS

OPENADR ALLIANCE UNVEILS DEPLOYMENT MAP AND SEARCHABLE PRODUCT DATABASE

New Tools To Help Utilities and Manufacturers Locate Resources

MORGAN HILL, Calif., January 14, 2015: The OpenADR Alliance, which fosters the development, adoption, and compliance of the Open Automated Demand Response (OpenADR) standard, today announced two new web-based tools to help utilities worldwide better maintain grid reliability using ADR, while providing customers with demand response-enabled products delivering enhanced energy efficiency.

The OpenADR Deployment Map is a database containing OpenADR 1.0 and 2.0 deployments worldwide: http://drrc.lbl.gov/openadr-deployments. The OpenADR Deployment Map provides visitors with information on OpenADR utility programs, including the location, status, category (commercial or residential), project timeline, OpenADR Profile Type (2.0a or 2.0b), and links for more information.

The OpenADR Alliance also modified its product database, empowering visitors to search for over 60 OpenADR certified products in an easy, intuitive way. This includes a global search, which tracks keywords in the product name, description and other categories. The database creates a series of filters visitors can utilize to narrow their search to exactly their interests http://products.openadr.org.

“Utilities, vendors and customers worldwide are regularly searching for products that can be used to support various automated demand response programs or for project references pertaining to adoption of the OpenADR standard,” said Barry Haaser, managing director, OpenADR Alliance. “Having information at your fingertips about OpenADR utility projects and OpenADR certified products that are available to support them gives the energy industry essential tools needed to develop automated demand response programs.”

The OpenADR Alliance web tools will enable:

  • EV charging management: See who is offering products and deploying projects based on the OpenADR standard for managing loads from electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
  • Commercial & Industrial projects: Utilities worldwide are implementing new energy efficiency programs targeting commercial and industrial (C&I) customers based on the OpenADR standard for automated demand response. The OpenADR web tools provide users with quick references to C&I programs and access to certified products that can be used in those and other programs.
  • Residential smart thermostat programs: Utilities can use the tools to identify utilities using smart thermostats and other energy efficiency products in their residential ADR programs as well as to identify certified products for use in their own projects.
