Greenlots Is First EV Charging Provider to Earn OpenADR Certification

 

Greenlots, a global provider of open standards-based technology solutions for electric vehicle (EV) networks, today introduced its SKY Smart Charging™ platform designed to address the needs of the utility and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) sectors. The company, which has received OpenADR 2.0b certification through the OpenADR Alliance, is now the first EV charging platform provider capable of using the standard to manage and influence charging behavior thru dynamic pricing. The announcement signals the growing demand from utilities for an open standards-based approach to vehicle-grid integration and maintains Greenlots’ position as the EV industry’s strongest advocate for open standards, extending its commitment to utilizing open standards from the charge port all the way to the utility back office.

Technical Update

METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry – Japan) recently sponsored several Next Generation Energy and Social System Projects. It kicked off a two-month round of interoperability testing on November 27th at the Waseda University Research Institute of Advanced Network Technology in Tokyo. The testing was conducted between OpenADR2.0b VTN and VEN vendors. 

 

The tests concluded successfully on January 24th, with full interoperability achieved between the multiple VTNs and VENS utilizing TLSv1.2, and with EiEvent, EiOpt and EiReport services, including telemetry and history usage report. 

 

Demand response commercial pilot programs involving TEPCO with OpenADR2.0b has now started, leveraging off the OpenADR2.0b systems evaluated in this METI sponsored project.

OpenADR 2.0 Workshop in March

QualityLogic is pleased to announce a new open enrollment OpenADR 2.0 Workshop in Southern California on March 18-19, 2014. The Early Bird enrollment discount expires March 1, so be sure to sign up!

 

The OpenADR 2.0 Workshop focuses on providing a conceptual, as well as a detailed technical understanding of what OpenADR 2.0 is and how it works. Participants will become familiar with the OpenADR 2.0 technology; Certification Profiles a and b; the formal conformance certification program and the pre-certification tests and tools for these profiles and OpenADR 2.0 technology.

 

As we continue to present these Workshops (seven in 2013 alone), we add new material, especially related to the challenges of deploying OpenADR 2 in real-world situations.
